Usenet traffic is exploding at significant rates. From what used to be a part-time endeavor directing article tributaries, Usenet management has grown into a full-time battle taming raging rivers of information; and the data rate continues to grow, showing signs of doubling each year. Highwinds Software products were originally developed with such growth in mind, and the latest product, Hurricane, is no exception.
&Hurricane; is a reliable, authoritative, and transit-less article numbering and control system in a Usenet network that solves many of the problems facing Usenet providers.
&Hurricane; allows unified numbering of Usenet articles without transmitting articles to a central location. &Hurricane; allows any number of Usenet POPs (Points of Presence) to receive articles from arbitrary sources, yet remain synchronized.
The &Hurricane; design allows unified article numbering and control across a network regardless of the source of the articles. Such centralized transit-less article numbering is a Highwinds innovation that has never been done before.
